All Network Marketing Companies have their own MLM Leader or leaders. These are the people that know how to consistently sponsor new reps and teach others how to do the same. What exactly is a MLM Leader?

A MLM Leader  shares many of the same characteristics as leaders in other fields. To be truly successful a MLM Leader creates other leaders, not followers. They strive to get their teammates to shine and are willing to give credit to others because they know that in the long run it’s going to help them accomplish their own goals.

They measure their success by the performance of their own team. They know that it’s the team’s performance that is ultimately responsible for their long term success. A commitment of intense focus and effort over a 18 – 24 month period could see you emerge as a MLM Leader in your own company. You will then have created a lifelong residual income because you have build up a team of leaders to sustain it.

Remember a MLM Leader is not necessarily a guru, superstar or hotshot but rather a great teacher, trainer, coach and mentor.

Steps To Becoming a MLM Leader

Step 1 – Create a huge vision of your success soon as you join your company if not sooner. Aim for the stars you might just reach the moon. If you aim for the moon you may not clear the earth’s atmosphere.

Step 2 – Learn that product knowledge has nothing to do with performance. Teach this to your team as well.

Step 3 – Acknowledge that knowing the ins and outs of the compensation plan has nothing to do with performance. Also teach this to your team.

Step 4 – Develop a daily routing that you COMMIT to and that will not fail. You should also create a similar routing for your team. You should actually have two i.e. one for part time and one for full time teammates.

Step 5 – Create a simple step by step training page (physical or on your website) for your teammates and their teammates. This will allow new people joining your MLM to quickly get started and follow what has made you successful. In this way you’re also leveraging your time as you’ll do this only once.

Step 6 – Don’t get despondent and stressed out if people don’t meet your expectations. You’ll then want to enroll more people and being stressed will show. Accept the fact that not everyone is going to be as hungry as you. Keep at it and develop those that are committed to their success.

Step 7 – If you don’t have a team that’s dedicated to prospecting and achieving your numbers then the rest of the steps don’t matter. Set yourself a goal of getting a certain amount of no’s each day. Embrasing the no’s and setting yourself a “no goal” will get you some yes’s.

Step 8 – Remember that success in MLM is not about what works but what duplicates. A MLM Leader builds his team by teaching other to duplicate what works. Network marketing is not about getting rich quick, it takes time and effort, but you can leverage that time and effort by creating a system that can be duplicated.

Step 9 – Create ways for you to create value for the leaders in your industry. Give them a testimonial, “Like” their fan page, leave comments on their blog. Don’t ask for favors. Start acting like a leader and others will WANT to work with you.

Step 10 – Don’t lead with your product. I don’t care if it’s the best thing since sliced bread, stop leading with your product. It doesn’t matter how good they are, but products carry a very low attraction and virtually no loyalty or retention. Leadership, training and mentor-ship are much more powerful to lead with and they DO create loyalty and retention. People don’t buy products, they buy from people they know, like and trust.

Step 11 – A MLM Leader is always learning. Ask questions of the MLM Leader or leaders in you company. Learn from them, be respectful of their time and what they’ve accomplished.

Step 12 – Set aside time to learn something new each and every day. Every MLM Leader I know does this, and it’s a characteristic of successful people everywhere.

Step 13 – It’s dangerous to pitch your team another MLM opportunity. You’ll find that the weaker reps will move to the new company hoping it will be easier, but instead will fail there as well. Rather concentrate on getting better and teaching others to get better than looking for something easier.

Step 14 – One of the biggest fears people have is public speaking. Develop your public speaking and presenting abilities. Your confidence will soar and you’ll find it easier and easier to project yourself as a MLM Leader.

Step 15 – When your business hits a slump, which it will, realize that it’s a direct correlation of the value you’re putting into the marketplace and the number of people you’re talking to.

Step 16 – Develop your skills by concentrating on numbers. In the beginning you may suck at closing. Make up for this by talking to more people. Increasing the no’s will lead to some yes’s but also talking to more people is good practice and you’ll get better over time.

Step 17 – Visit your leaders. If you’re in their city visit them, mail them information and be willing to spend time with them to help them reach their goals. Teach them to do the same for their leaders.

Step 18 – Always be aware of what you’re doing. Don’t do anything that you don’t want your team to duplicate.

Step 19 – Share with your team what you are doing and what is actually working for you. It makes no sense to teach them one thing while you’re doing something else. As a MLM Leader you are building a team around what works for you, this is how you have duplication.

Step 20 – Technology is great but don’t get so involved with it that you get bogged down. This is a people business and you need to connect and talk to people all the time. Don’t worry if your video or blog is not the best out there.

Step 21 – Concentrate on living the lifestyle. Work hard but remember to have fun. Document your experiences and share your success.

Tip #1. – Know Why You’re Doing It

I know this has probably been overstated. You’ve heard it a million times  already, but you have to have a strong driving force, and will to succeed. Network Marketing is not a walk in the park and your resolve is going to be tested no end.

This is the information age. The Internet will allow you to connect with more people in a day than you could ever do working off-line. Leveraging the power of the Internet will have a huge impact of your business success.

Start today. Pick an online strategy that you feel comfortable with and start working at connecting with people. You may want to consider article marketing, blogging, video marketing, facebook or pay per click advertising.

It doesn’t really matter which strategy you choose, just be consistent.

Tip #3 – Build A List

The most important thing to do is to start building a list. This is your database of people’s names, email addresses and phone numbers. There are a number of autoresponder services available that allow you to put an opt-in form on your website to capture lead information. The autoresponder then sends your leads emails on a regular bases with useful information and offers.

I use Aweber as my autoresponder but another great service is Getresponse. They offer great features and are both are reliable services.

Tip #4 – Use a Sales Funnel

To start generating a profit very quickly you need to start funneling your leads through a sales funnel.

A sales funnel consists of a funded proposal, which is an inexpensive information product you sell on the front end. this captures the lead in your funnel. The main goal of the sales funnel is to provide value while promoting courses, training programs, mentoring services and even you primary business opportunity.

Having a sales funnel allows you to generate multiple sources of income that are generated completely on auto-pilot. You just need to consistently drive people through your funnel.

Tip #5 – Personal Branding

This is all about attraction marketing and branding yourself as opposed to promoting your business opportunity. People buy from people. If you position yourself as a leader in your field and provide value to your prospects they’re much more likely to buy from you than if you were just pushing your product!

Tip #6 – Duplication

In order to build a massive downline you need to create duplication. You do this by giving your team exactly the same systems you use. This allows your team to learn from you and duplicate exactly what you’re doing to market yourself, generate leads and present your business.

When I first got introduced to the Internet I knew it was for me. My gut just told me that if I wanted to start my own business I had to leverage the power of the Internet to make the most of technology.

It took me a few weeks to set up my online marketing system. When the leads started rolling in I knew that I had made the right choice and my confidence doubled. The system that these guys use is all laid out with step by step instructions. The best part is that I don’t need to get people to join my opportunity anymore because the system does that for you. All you need to do is to keep moving forward.

3. Learn the Business from a Rival

I’m actually glad I never got involved in Network Marketing before, because if I had started off with the offline strategies I would have quit and failed. The Internet allows us to network with each other with the goal of learning.  For the most part Network Marketers online help each other no matter what company they’re affiliated with.

4. Connecting with People

My feeling is that marketers who don’t use online marketing think that it’s impersonal and that you just hide behind your screen all day and never call or communicate with anyone. I’ve actually found the opposite to be true.

In fact the other day Brian Fanale, one of the MLSP team leaders, personally fixed a glitch on my blog. Another great example is Lawrence Tam, he’s my direct up-line and I can send him an email or I can Skype him or just pick up the phone and call him and he’ll connect with me. I’m not talking about guys that barely make a living at this either, these guys make a ton of money and most of em’ are top earners and recruiters in their companies. The internet is a fantastic way to connect with others and I’ve found that if you’re serious and take action, the leaders will connect with you.

Network Marketing is a form of business where people are able to move away from just having a job (selling their time for money), to where they can build wealth over time by developing a steady stream of residual income.

Working with a reputable Network Marketing company gives you the opportunity to be your own boss, set your work hours and work environment. Successful Network Marketers research many possibilities and choose a company carefully before they start their businesses.

There are many network marketing opportunities available. Unfortunately some are scams, but for the most part the majority of the companies are legitimate and well-intentioned. Some may have poor track records while others are huge successes. So how does someone separate the good from the bad.

Here are 10 criteria to help you pick the right Network Marketing opportunity for you.

1. Research the Company

The first thing to do is to research Network Marketing companies. You want your marketing efforts to keep paying you for many years into the future, so the company you join should be around for the long haul. The Internet is full of resources for example visit The Direct Selling Association website. Their site is designed to help you evaluate a company and to learn more about the industry.

2. Is the Company well Capitalized?

What you want to know is that the company has enough capital to allow it to grow, maintain a solid infrastructure, attract strong management, keep pace with technology and of course pay your commissions.

3. Are the Companies Products or Services Unique?

The products need to be different and not readily available elsewhere (or available at a big discount). Too many companies offer similar “me-to” products that essentially are not that much different than what you could by for half the price at the local WallMart.

4. Is there a need for the product?

The company’s products must fill a need, be sold at a fair price and have a large market for it. We’ve all heard stories about marketers ending up with rooms full of expensive product they couldn’t sell. They couldn’t sell the product because only other distributers would buy it at that price! Find a product that you really love and would buy yourself. When you believe in the product it will show and make your marketing more effective.

At the end of the day the product MUST provide tremendous value, so that the customer is the biggest winner.

5. Is the Product Trendy?

You’re not going to build long term residual income if the product has a short term appeal. You’ve always got to be thinking long term. Is the product or service something that will provide long term value?

6. Can you generate immediate income?

Many people fail in Network Marketing because they run out of money marketing their businesses before they start generating and income. You’ve got to start generating income as soon as possible (certainly within the first 90 days).

7. Does the Marketing System make full use of Technology?

Network Marketing is not selling it is about marketing. Using technology allows ANYBODY to plug into a system and tools that does the selling for you.

8. Is the person introducing you to the opportunity committed to your Success?

People who are committed to your success shows that the company is strong, the product is strong and that if you follow the system you WILL succeed. Ask yourself if you’re being “recruited” or “sponsored”. Recruiters just sign people up and then leave them, while a sponsor becomes your coach and mentor.

9. Can you build your business part-time and still keep your job?

Again this is a long term business. You need to build your residual income over time and for most of us this means we still need to keep our day job’s until such time as we can afford to quit. The company must have automated systems in place to do the heavy lifting so that you can utilize your limited time more effectively.

10. Will you have Fun.

Nothing is more difficult than doing something you don’t enjoy. If you have fun doing this the chances of success are so much better.

That’s it – 10 criteria to help you select the best network marketing company for YOU. Remember though, even a company that’s your best fit is no guarantee, you will have to work at it. With the right opportunity though (unlike your job), it won’t have to be forever!

Many Network Marketers and Network Marketing Companies are trying to leverage the power of the Internet to grow their businesses. Companies provide marketers with their own branded websites, some start their own blogs or try using various Social Media tools to sell their products. We can basically think of the Network Marketing process as having four steps or stages.

1. Generate Leads or Prospects
2. Present the Opportunity to your Prospects
3. Follow Up with your prospects after the presentation

If we as network marketers are able to take people through the process we’re growing our business. Network Marketing is after all a recruiting business. It’s all about building your team.

Problems

1. The first problem Network Marketers run into is that they have no prospects. In online terms you need to have lots of traffic coming to your website.
2. Secondly once you get them to your website are you able to give them a quality presentation on the opportunity?
3. The next problem you run into is once you start generating leads how do you (as one person) cope with doing the work of 100′s of people and follow up with all your leads.
4. Lastly many Network Marketers never ask people to join or sign up for the opportunity.

How To Make it Work Online

Lets concentrate on generating traffic online. Follow up and closing can come later but if you don’t have and traffic you don’t have a business.

Think of your website or blog as an island in the middle of the ocean. You are the only one on your island and although you may have products and services to sell, no one knows about them or can get to your island.

There are many other islands in the ocean with thousands of people who may be looking for your products and services. Some of the larger islands are Google search, Social Media sites like Facebook and twitter, and Youtube.

In order for you to get people to your island (website) you need to build bridges to your island from those islands that have the biggest populations i.e. google, facebook, twitter and youtube.

The material for these bridges are articles, videos and shared content on social media sites. The content you create all have links to your site . These back-links are  the bridges that allow traffic to get to your site.
