Three Ways of Thinking…

The first thing to clear up is what you’re selling – after all, it’s hard to sell something if you don’t understand what it is, right?

There are three different “products” you can focus on selling in your business.  (I know, I know, you have ’50 products’ or whatever – just hear me out).

The first product that you can market in your business is your actual, tangible (or intangible) company product.  This is the realm of more than 80% of MLM distributors – attempting to make sales by talking about how ‘exciting’ their new magic lotion is.  The term ‘magic lotion’ could be replaced with vitamins, pre-paid legal, travel, personal development, or whatever else you’re selling.

The unfortunate thing about focusing your Network Marketing Sales on your company product is that you probably aren’t having much success doing it.  Why? Because everyone else in your MLM business is doing exactly the same.

The second product you can be selling in your MLM business is your opportunity.  ‘Sell the Dream’ as they say in Amway.  The hardest thing to do in the whole world (although it does work, for that one guy we both heard about once) is to gather your friends into your home, pull out a white board, and convince them all they’re going to get rich by joining you in your business.

It would almost be easier to convince an elephant to become a bird…  Seriously – I’m not saying this is impossible, after all there’s plenty of examples of people who have become very successful using this aproach. You know what though?  It was a pain in the ass.

As an Internet Marketer and Coach people often say to me

“I know the Internet is THE tool to be using to promote and grow my business. I’ve signed up with Facebook, twitter, Linkedin, MySpace and every other Social Media tool I can find but I’m still not getting any results. How do I take advantage of the Internet and market my business online?”

Most people start out in MLM using the traditional approach of network marketing by making a list of family and friends. They then use every opportunity to pitch their company, product etc. to these people who are not interested at all.

A MLM fact: 97% of people in the industry never achieve a full-time income level.

There are three main reasons for this:

1. They run out of leads – if you have no leads you have no business.
2. They run out of money – it takes time to build up enough residual income to fund your marketing.
3. They get despondent and give up.

We all know the importance of networking and join networking groups so that we can meet people and get to know them.

What About Online Marketing?

Online marketing is no different. Think of it as networking (only we’re using the internet to network with others.)

The biggest mistake you can make online (especially on Social Media sites) is to blatantly advertise your product or service. Social Media is about networking and building relationships. People don’t want to be blasted with ads, they’re looking for information. Remember, people buy from people. They do not join a business they join you.

People are attracted to others who convey leadership qualities and who can provide value to them. If you want to make it big in networking, (or any other area in life) you need to exhibit those qualities, become a leader and provide value to others.

By doing this people get to know you, trust you and feel comfortable working with you.

Leaders;

• offer a tremendous amount of value to others.

• love and protect those that matter to them.

• always radiate positive energy and optimism

They respect themselves, their bodies and live healthy lifestyles.
They do what the majority are unwilling to do.

When you’re perceived as a leader prospects will automatically pursue an association with you.

Once you achieve this people will be attracted to you and will want to do business with you.

This is what Attraction Marketing is all about.
